John Harte, author of Ride for Justice with his horse Duke and Chase the bloodhound (who has just spotted a squirrel)

       The author, John Harte, is a graduate of Aiken High School, class of 1963, the University of Alabama, class of 1967, and the University of South Carolina School of Law, class of 1971. John taught history and poltical science at St. Angela Academy. He has practiced law in Aiken, South Carolina since 1971 and served for 4 years as a State Family and Special Circuit Court Judge.

       John played polo with the Aiken Polo Club, served as Master of Foxhounds to the Whiskey Road Foxhounds and has studied the Highland Bagpipes with the Palmetto Pipes and Drums. He plays the obscure sport of Court Tennis and was formerly a scratch amateur golfer at Palmetto and Midland Valley Golf clubs. John and his wife Jennifer reside in Aiken, S.C. and Asheville, NC. His son Charles lives in Columbia, S.C.
